The death toll following the 7.2 magnitude Haiti earthquake has climbed to almost 2000.
Rescue workers managed to pull 34 alive people from the rubble. However, many remain missing or presumed to be dead. Nearly 10 000 people have been injured in the natural disaster.
Haiti’s United Children’s Fund (Unicef) representative Bruno Maes says about 500 000 children have limited or no access to safe food, water, and shelter.
Many families have resorted to erecting make-shift tents in unaffected areas.
