Chaos has broken out at the Athlone Civic Centre, as social grant machines have reportedly run out of money. Pensioners are waiting in long queues, with no air-conditioning, as staff struggle to sort out the problems with the new Social Grant System. The South African Social Security Agency’s regional manager, Dr Waldie Terreblanche, says the glitches are being dealt with.
